The Colorado lawmaker was allegedly vaping, singing, and "causing a disturbance" during a Beetlejuice performance |
After being accused of being disruptive, Republican senator Lauren Boebert was taken from a Colorado theatre where Beetlejuice was being performed.
Two customers were asked to leave following allegations of vaping, singing, and making a disturbance, according to an incident record that did not mention her.
The event was confirmed, however, her team refuted claims that she was vaping.
I confess to singing and laughing too loudly! Ms. Boebert wrote on Twitter.
Three complaints were made by other audience members about the disruptive behavior at the Buell Theatre on Sunday night, according to the incident report submitted by Denver Arts & Venues in Colorado.
Five minutes into the second half, after receiving more complaints that they were being loud and filming the event, an usher approached them again and asked them to leave after issuing a first warning during the interval. It is forbidden to record or take photos during the performance.
According to the report, an usher "told me" that Ms. Boebert and her friend "would not leave."
"I informed them that I would contact Denver Police. "Go grab them," they urged."
Ushers reported the congresswoman refused to leave the lobby area after entering, claiming "I will be contacting the mayor" and "Do you know who I am?"
Drew Sexton, Ms. Boebert's campaign manager, verified that she was led from the theatre in downtown Denver.
According to Mr. Sexton, Ms. Boebert didn't smoke while watching the concert and wasn't aware that taking pictures was forbidden.
In a statement, Mr. Sexton said, "I can confirm the startling and scandalous rumors: Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is definitely a supporter of the performing arts (gasp!) and, to the surprise of a few, thoroughly enjoyed a weekend performance of Beetlejuice.
She expressed gratitude for the theater's "strong enforcement of their no photographs policy" and expressed the desire that the Biden administration will uphold our border regulations with like rigor.
On X, previously known as Twitter, Ms. Boebert stated on Tuesday that she did not witness the show's conclusion.
She admitted to laughing and singing out loud during the FANTASTIC Beetlejuice performance at the Buell Theatre in her letter. "If you have a chance to watch it this week, everyone should do so, and please let me know how it ends!"
Denver does not fall inside the district of the Colorado legislature.
