CALGARY, AB, Sept. 10, 2023 /CNW/ - In support of the Libin Cardiovascular Center, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) is pleased to have contributed to a donation totaling over $90,000 during the Spruce Meadows CPKC International Grand Prix on September 10.
For every clean round jumped, even those with time faults, CPKC's Clear Rounds for Heart campaign, part of the CPKC Has Heart community investment program, provides $10,000 to assist the heart health of individuals across North America. The Spruce Meadows program at CPKC has raised more than $2.6 million since its start in 2014 for heart health research and treatment.
At Spruce Meadows on Sunday, Martin Fuchs and Leone Jei won the $3 million CPKC International Grand Prix with three rounds of flawless jumping.
Congrats to Martin Fuchs and Leone Jei, each rider, and the amazing Spruce Meadows crowd for their support of the CPKC Has Heart initiative, said Keith Creel, president and chief executive officer of the CPKC. "In order to support the vital job that the staff at the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta undertakes every day, CPKC has a proud history of collaborating with Spruce Meadows. We are happy to provide this money to improve Albertans' cardiovascular health."
According to Dr. Paul Fedak, Director of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute, a division of the University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services, "We are thankful to CPKC for assisting us to promote our Institute's goal through their continued support." "The money raised from today's event will go towards building the essential infrastructure required to develop our Precision Medicine Initiative, which aims to promote individualized and accurate cardiovascular health treatments that make use of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Together, we can create the healthcare of tomorrow now."
Also, CPKC contributed money to the Libin Cardiovascular Center at the CPKC International at The Masters for each person who took part in CPKC Has Heart activities including Interactive Heart Model Construction and hands-on CPR.
